To have 3 days of being immersed in an environment of unconditional support, appreciation, possibility thinking and a constant undertone of fun, one does not want to leave, on the other hand I am also excited to go back to my day to day life and integrate all that I have experienced and learned.

We wrapped up our retreat with an exercise of “Sharing what we wish for our fellow members”. We each sat in the “hotseat” and received what each member wished for us to create, experience or be by our next mastermind retreat. We also shared what we wanted for ourselves between now and the next mastermind retreat.

Having a strong completion and wrapping up the retreat is an important step for every profound experience.  

Our wrap up not only allowed us to have the experience of hearing what each member saw in us and what is important for us in the next year but to unite us a group of supporting each other in our highest intention for the next 12 months.

My wish myself for this next year is to (all under the umbrella of effortless, ease and joy) experience an effortless birth , an effortless transition of becoming a mom and to embrace the day to moments, gifts, challenges that motherhood has to offer. In addition come from a deep place of trust that my business will unfold in the most perfect way.

As I carry into my day to day life the experience of our retreat, I embrace a deep appreciation of the experience and the members of my team.  My bigger wish for all fellow entrepreneurs is that you create a similar environment in your life and ride the wave of all the benefits it has to offer!

1.  What is your Hell Yes? 

What is next for you?  What is your next growing edge?  Where do you need to go to truly live a life you love? What could you do that would add a whole new level of excitement and fullfilment to your life?  It can a big Hell Yes or a small Hell Yes – as long as it is a Hell Yes for you. What would your life be like if you always had a Hell Yes?  My next Hell Yes is to step into motherhood as graceful and positive and embrace living my personal priorities first and trust that my business will look after itself.

2.  Honouring Yourself.

Many of us find ourselves in relationships where we may be compromising our integrity, values or deepest needs. This happens for many different reasons; our need to avoid conflict,  low self esteem, lack of self value, unhealed wounds from out past.  To live a life where in each moment we are honouring ourselves is a tall order but one that serves not only ourselves but those we love.  

During this discussion here are a few key points that stood out for me.

• To honour yourself you need to decide to bring all of you to the relationship.  Your needs, fears, and requests
• Tell your truth, share your interpretations of the truth.  Share your truth in a loving, compassionate way.  The intention behind the truth is important
• Take care of yourself
• Taking on a healthy responsibility is one of the most important step you can take for your self esteem and your relationship.
• When we are not honouring ourselves we can find ourselves playing out one of these three roles  a)1. Victim ( poor me) b) Rescuer – poor you c) Persecutor (f__k  you)

It is a fine line not to fall into one of these three roles, when we do, it can be a trigger we are not honouring ourselves.  When this happens take a deep belly breath, access the inner courage to share your truth and remember we are not responsible for how the other person feels.

 When it comes to creating healthy supportive relationships consider these points: 

* If a relationship is a lot of work perhaps it is the wrong relationship

* If you are not having fun something is off

* “If someone is awake pursue them, if someone is semi awake and they are pursuing you let them, if someone is asleep leave them alone”

3.  Eliminating self sabotaging behaviours

As we supported each other in stepping up to our next Hell Yes it was interesting to identify the self sabotaging patterns that would appear.  From many years of coaching I have come to realize each time we stretch out of our comfort zone, and go for our dreams, there is an opportunity to peel another layer off our self sabotaging behaviours.  I have also come to realize that these behaviours may never go away, instead we become conscious of them, manage them more effectively, and hopefully each time they show up in our life, their influence is less.  I was inspired to be part of a group that is so aware of their limiting behaviours and open to the support to overcome them.  

 4. Centre of Authenticity  

As the weekend continued it became clear how each of us wanted to make a difference as a coach was linked to where we needed to go next in our life.  Ever hear the saying what you teach is what you most need to learn?  For example, at this time in my life I am getting clear of my definition of having it all and living it.  I want this for all working moms.   Therefore my tag line is coaching you to achieve your definition of having it all.

I will take these themes and integrate them into the next 6 mths of my life.  I know they will all be helpful in one way or another as I make my transition from entrepreneur to mompreneur.  The great thing is I know I am not alone on this journey – I have my mastermind team to check in with on our weekly phone calls!

As we move through each “hotseat” I am in awe of the level of support, inspiration, authenticity, unity amongst our group.  It is challenging to communicate the depth of what we experience as a mastermind.  It is beyond words to describe the experience of being part of a group that creates an environment that allows for personal transformation.

One way I can attempt to describe it is can be referred to as the “third mind”.  The third mind evolves when a group reaches a certain level of coherence and unity, it then starts to experience a remarkable shift. Something that feels like a group intuition develops and takes on a life of its own.

Here are couple of things that is present in our mastermind that allows this third mind to surface:

• Before each hotseat we begin by getting centered.  A member facilitates a closed eyed process where we are guided to let go of any thoughts, issues or distractions that may be keeping us from being in the moment.  We unite as a group and align with the intention of fully serving the member who will be in the hotseat.
• There is a huge level of trust and respect within the group.
• We all value authenticity and know the power of vulnerability.
• Each member has permission to “risk” and act on their intuition which may challenge or confront the member in the hotseat.
• We all hold the space of love and hold each other to their highest potential.

Once you’ve experienced the “third mind” phenomenon, you’ll be as excited as I am about being part of a mastermind.  It is truly amazing where it can take you.  Each entrepreneur owes it to themselves to have this expereince be part of their life.

Quality time with Brian. (Sharing, connection, growth, fun)  I have read and heard that in many situations the father can feel left out or not a priority anymore when baby joins the family.  Many men have this fear, some are conscious of it and some are not.  Go figure - mom is exhausted, stretched out of her comfort zone doing her best to adapt to the changes and needs of this precious soul.  It is natural for a mom to bond and have a connection with baby, but to maintain this with daddy may not always come easy.

It is important to me to continue to cultivate a loving relationship between Brian and I.  I know that great relationships take commitment and effort.

The day before I left for our mastermind retreat I had an ultrasound appointment.  Brian could not make the appointment; I decided to make it a girl’s event. It was very special to have three of my closests girlfriends there, after we went for dinner.  When I got home I realized how filled up I was to have shared this time with friends.  I get the same feeling when I am with my mastermind team.  When I am a mom, quality time with friends is a must!  Can I follow through?

The above priorities fulfill my values of connection, sharing, growth, and fun.  (Later I will share my insights around my values of inspiration and leadership and how they fit into my business priorities.)

Part of my reinvention from entrepreneur to mommpreneur is to truly step into designing my ideal life first and having my business it into that.  This concept is something I have been coaching on for years.  

As an entrepreneur, with no children I did not feel I needed to  be fully diligent with this concept – as my time was my time and  in every moment I felt I had choice of how I could spend my tim – I rarely felt like I was sacrificing what was important to me.

Becoming a mom I believe it will not be the same experience.  As I have coached many working moms to do so, it is important now for me to claim my personal priorities as number one.  I know it is a stretch.  It is easier said and done.  I love what I do in my business; my business has been my identity for many years.  Success, achievement and making a difference are important to me and have been a main driver for many years.

Can I really put the above priorities first and feel at peace with that? What will happen to my business when I act accordingly to these priorities?

Well I am ready to find out. This is my ideal life. This is what is important to me. I am ready to walk my talk!

 Three of us did our hot seat today.  For two of us a big part of our conversations evolved around the concept of making decisions and choices based on our true values.  It is very inspiring to be part of a group that each individual is very conscious of living their best life (which we feel a big part of that is making decisions and choices based on your values) and supporting each other in not settling for anything less.

I never had health and fitness as a value (even though my actions showed that it has always been important) but after my hotseat I have decided to officially claim it as my highest value at this time in my life.  Being a “mature” mom and wanting to experience much in my life – it is clear without energy,  and great  health, that will not be possible.

A mastermind buddy said “If I don’t put my health first everything else falls apart”.  Being in my early 40’s and becoming a new mom – this statement really resonated with me.

Before I left for my mastermind retreat I had a very inspiring coaching session with a client, his homework was to go through my New Approach to Goal Setting ebook.

We have been working together for over 7 years and our focus has been on leveraging his business and creating his ideal lifestyle.  It was great to discover that he is fully living his values and continues to move towards the ultimate vision of his life.  He also shared that health and fitness is at the top of his values list.  It began the process of my thinking Perhaps for all of us health and fitness needs to be our number one value.  If you are a high functionally individual and committed to living a full life – reality is we need our health to be in peak performance.

At this mastermind retreat I am claiming this is my number one priority – even writing this statement, it feels a little selfish.  What about being a mother, a wife – shouldn’t those roles be first? I am reminded of the anolgy of the safety procedure when flying, we are instructed to put the oxygen mask on first before we help our loved ones.  I see making my health a priority as my oxygen mask.   

My first step in reinventing as a mompreneur is to give myself permission to make working out and healthy eating the number one priority in my life.  I have journaled on what the specific actions steps are and one of the first things I will do is block these commitments into my calendar.  

 My other top values include:

• connection
• sharing
• growth
• fun
• inspiration
• making a difference

Ahh… it is getting late, I need my “baby sleep”.  I will continue to share the other insights of my reinvention and the “ah-ha’s” from the other hotseats tomorrow.

Kevin shared “Worry is a prayer for what you don’t want” – I agree! My first affirmation of my retreat! 

Had a wonderful day with Kevin, we had lunch in La Connor and caught up. Kevin is one of the original members of our group, we have known each other for 10 years. It was fun to reflect on all that we are grateful for; being a coach, being part of this mastermind and how our relationship has evolved over the years.

We arrived at Tracey’s home (where we are having our retreat – a beautiful 5,000 square foot home overlooking the water!) around 4:00 p.m. It was great to see everyone again!

During dinner we shared ideas of what our intention is as a group for this weekend retreat.

Here are a couple of themes that evolved:

* A blast of clarity

* A clarity that will fundamentally impact how we live the rest of our lives

* Clarity of what is your “Hell Yes” – what is the stand you want to make for your life?

* What has to happen for you to have an “extraordinary conversation’?

As we were sharing, I was reminded of how much it means to me to be part of a conversation where there is a level of intimacy, trust, mutual appreciation and “aha” moments – that to me is an extraordinary conversation!  

Tomorrow is our first official day of masterminding:

We have 6 members at this time; we will each have a 2 hour “hotseat”.

“Hotseat”: One member shares what their outcome, goal, issue, challenge is and is coached and supported by the rest of us.  

¨”Collective intentions create an environment that allows the members to receive information and ideas beyond what they would normally discover on their own”

I look forward to a day of “extraordinary conversations”!!

 When sharing my intentions with one of my mastermind buddies, he shared this analogy that really resonated with me:

“Teresia it sounds like you are going through the process of taking everything out of your house –putting it all on the front lawn and then consciously choosing what you want back in your house” – yup that pretty much sums it up!

 1. Revisit my priorities, values, ideal lifestyle and identify the changes I need to make to have my actions and choices align with the above.

2. Clarity on my high impact business activities – how can accomplish more with less time?  What business activities am committed to and what I will let go of?

I will be sharing my intentions for the retreat. Before any event, retreat, conference it is important to take the time to be clear of your intentions. An intention is: “to have in mind a purpose or plan, to direct the mind, to aim.” This helps us to leverage and maximize the opportunities and learnings we are about to step into.

 Here are the steps I am taking to prepare for my retreat and I encourage you to do the same before you attend your next event.

 1. Get clear about something you want and write it down.

 2. Share your intention with someone in a way that will supportively hold you accountable to taking action.

 3. Do something today to demonstrate your commitment to your intention.

By setting an intention, you make it clear to yourself and others, just what you plan to do.  Setting an intention shows you are serious about your dreams.

As many of you know I am a big advocate for being part of a mastermind team.

If you are an entrepreneur I believe being part of a mastermind team is mandatory. It is one of the most strategic moves you can make.

Nine years ago my best friend, fellow coach and my number one cheerleader, Sonia Stringer and I decided to start our mastermind team. We picked up the phone and called other like minded individuals and invited them to be part of our team. Each member still says the same thing: “Being part of this Mastermind is the best business decision I ever made!”

March 8, 2010 is International Women’s Day – The 2010 Theme is Progress for All.

International Women’s Day has been observed since in the early 1900’s, a time of great expansion and turbulence in the industrialized world that saw booming population growth and the rise of radical ideologies.

In the last few years of being a coach I have naturally been drawn to coaching more and more women. You may have read in past articles where I have alluded to the growth of women, how their success and contributions to the world has dramatically increased in the last two decades. Recent media articles have talked about “womenomics” the concept that male dominance in the workplace is being replaced by the fact that women account for 80% of all purchasing decisions and that women, may soon be primary breadwinners. Did you know that Canada is the fastest growing country for self employed professional women and it has tripled in the last two decades? In Canada one in 10 executives is a woman, and in the US one in five executives is a woman.

I am truly inspired! As women, we are truly stepping up to do it all! And………….. it is not always easy. In the spirit of ‘women supporting women’ I have most recently teamed up with a long time friend and colleague Cheryl Cran and we have launched a unique program for women entrepreneurs and leaders called Triple M Mastermind: Mind Money and a Life of meaning. This ongoing program is unique in its format in that a group of 8 women form a high level mastermind to assist each other in leadership and help those who own their own businesses, grow them to the next level. We believe that the next progress for all women is related to women supporting women to achieve bigger results. Celebrating women and their achievements in a non-competitive environment is a huge factor in the Triple M Mastermind and for women to create progress for all.

I have personally experienced through my own mastermind team and teaming up with other like-minded women, that the ability to receive help, collaborate and be in an supportive, non competitive environment that not only encourages, but demands thinking big, is a critical factor in women achieving success without a personal cost.

Today, on International Women’s Day, I celebrate the relationship I have with my mother, the sacred women friendships I have in my life, the women who are part of my TLC team, the inspiring, supportive business partnership I have with Cheryl and the all the women that I have had the honour of partnering up with as their coach, to witness their courage and commitment to live their best life.
