Key to Happiness is Mates and Kids

Well that is what a team of psychologists are suggesting.  American Psychologist Abraham Maslow’s famous “pyramid of needs” is getting a revamp.  Self actualization use to be at the top of the pyramid now a team of psychologists are arguing that caring for your children, feeding them, nurturing them, educating them and making sure they get off on the right foot in life – all of the things that make parenting successful is at the top of the pyramid.

Pyramid of needsHmm after 25 years of chasing the endless loop of self actualization in pursuit of  happiness, today I  have a nine week old baby and have never been happier. Could it be that simple? Could nurturing others be the key to happiness? Or has 20 years of seeking self actualizations been the key to my happiness as a mom? Hmm… things that make you go hmmm.
